Our cottage will be closing November 15th for the season. To be fair to all our guests, weekly rentals are from friday - friday ( Thank you ) Our cottage is right on beautiful kinderhook lake. Walk down the porch & the lake is 10' away. The Empire state trail is only 200' away for those who like to bike walk or both. There are kayaks for your use or bring your own kyaks canoes or boats & tie them up to one of the two docks. Fishing is great and you could fish off the dock, porch or front lawn if you wanted to! The house has 2 ac units and a forced hot air heater. There is no better way to relax then to have dinner or just a few cold ones and enjoy the view of the lake.BBQ, table with umbrella, seating for 6 & lounges on outside deck. Also has inside porch with dinning table, couch, tv & ac. Less then 2 hrs from NYC about 45 minutes from Albany, Monticello , so everything is close. The full bathroom across the hall features a window, pedestal sink, and full sized bathtub/shower combination. The living room commands panoramic views of the North to South orientation of the lake which my returning clients have come to know and love. Since the Lake is just outside the door, you can fish right off the bank. (Our own grandchildren have a lot of fun going out with their fishing poles and then coming inside with their trophies, asking their moms to cook them.) It’s great for swimming, too. Stone steps lead down into the Lake (not shown) and make it quite easy for “little ones” or “older ones” to enjoy the cool, spring-fed waters on a hot summer day. The Norman Rockwell Museum, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, the NYS Capitol, Tanglewood, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Lindenwald (the family home of Martin Van Buren, our 8th President and the first born as an American citizen!), Saratoga Race Track, Lake George and “The Great Escape” amusement park – all are close enough to provide easy and entertaining day trips. We invite you to spend a relaxing weekend or week at our cottage on Kinderhook Lake. Our dock provides access for kayaking and canoeing. You can relax on the deck and watch the sun set over the lake. This lake was once the home of "Electric Park", one of the first public amusement parks in the US having electric rides in the early 20th century. The newly completed Empire State Trial is right around the corner - you can access it in 1-2 minutes. It has been leveled for bike riding. It runs through countryside, horse farm country and over creeks. The Hudson River Art Trail is nearby: Olana, the home Frederick Church built above the Hudson River and Cedar Grove, at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a short drive away. There is strawberry picking in June, and several apple orchards - Golden Harvest in Valatie - offer pick your own and award-winning cider doughnuts. There is no electricity or WiFi, and cell service can be hard to come by. You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise. When it comes to bathrooms, this campsite comes with a solar camp shower (that will be filled with water and can be hung anywhere around your campsite you feel comfortable) as well as an outdoor camp toilet (you'll line the loo with a provided CleanWaste bag, do your duty, then remove the bag, tie it off, and throw it in the garbage). When you arrive, you'll follow the map provided to arrive at your campsite. Parking will be close by and dogs are always allowed! They pose no threat, but if you a camper is allergic to bees, an epi pen is a good idea. Smoking cigarettes is not allowed. Please bring some bug spray! If you forget soap, toothbrushes etc., no worries! We stock such things and will provide them to campers for a small fee. The Powell Farm is a Bed and Breakfast located at the end of a private road in northern Columbia County. The property has up to 3 bedrooms for rent and a large semi-permanent safari tend. While the home looks old, it has all the convinces of a 5-star hotel. Bedrooms are large with stunning views. The atmosphere is quiet. Perfect for reading in front of a fire with a cup of hot tea or a glass of wine. For those who are coming to participate with the Old Chatham Hunt or a horse show - there is stabling available. The rest of the house does NOT have AC. There are tennis rackets and balls, a coal grill, gas grill, all kitchenware, deck chairs, and all sorts of pool floats including an anchored circular float in the middle of the pond that can fit 6 adults, a canoe, and other blow up boats and floats. We have slip'n'slides, badminton/volleyball net, tire swings attached to trees, a wooden swinging garden chaise, and a picnic table on the deck. You may bring your own linens and towels. There is a $250 linen fee for the use of our linens and towels. What this house is perfect for: This house is PERFECT for one two or three families seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and retreat to a true sprawling rustic country estate. Fairland Farm is located on County Route 21, Kinderhook, 20 min. from Hudson, NY and 2.5 hours from New York City. Fairland Farm produces organic vegetables, and is located in scenic Columbia County - the gem of upstate New York. The carriage house has a private entrance with parking. Under normal conditions, guests may access the pool during the hours of 6:00a.m.-10:00p.m. There is no lifeguard on duty and all children should be supervised by parents / guardians. *HOWEVER, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in progress, guests will not be allowed access to the pool/pool area until further notice. If visiting during growing season, Fairland Farm organic vegetables will be available to you! This is a working farm and my law practice is within 1.5 miles of the farm, making me readily available should you require assistance. Both the Village of Kinderhook and the greater Town of Kinderhook offer a variety of eateries, small shops, and roadside farm stands, as well as the expected, and more familiar, retail establishments such as grocery stores, banks, churches, and car repair shops. However, Kinderhook is a rural community with a multitude of working farms and you should expect, during growing season, to see and smell, all that entails.

Our Home in Malden Bridge is a beautiful historic house located in the small hamlet of Malden Bridge, located between the Hudson River and the Berkshire Mountains. The area is full of history, and the homes and old structures of the area convey this in charm and interest. The house has 2 bedrooms located upstairs. Each bedroom has a queen bed and a private full bathroom. Downstairs is a more formal living room and a very comfortable den with TV. There is a spacious sunroom with French doors and large windows giving access to the spacious back yard complete with bluestone patio and swimming pool. The kitchen is fully stocked: gas stove and oven, microwave, wine cooler, refrigerator, dishwasher. There are dishes, glasses, pots and pans and other kitchen appliances like blender, coffee maker and toaster oven. There is a large dining table in the sunroom. On the patio in the garden there is an umbrella table and seating for six. There is a Weber grill for you use. The patio and garden also have lounge chairs with pillows for sunbathing and relaxing around the small, round, in-ground salt-filter pool. The pool is surrounded by a bluestone patio and lush flower beds. The front of the house boasts a porch under the columns where there is a small table and seating. Sled down the hill behind the house or skate on the lighted pond. Strap on a pair of snowshoes or cross country skis and explore the rural country side. Jiminy Peak ski resort is a 25 minute drive as are other X- county and downhill mountains. Return home and toast marshmallows in the fire pit or take a steam shower before relaxing in front of the huge stone fireplace. The Pond House is a late 19th century farmhouse, completely restored in 2010. Set amidst a 460 acre working farm on a quiet dirt road. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living/dining room, kitchen, den, laundry, deck and Wi-Fi. Visitors on our farm are welcome to collect fresh eggs in the morning for breakfast. In the spring, summer, and fall watch the Black Angus graze on the pastures while drinking coffee, walk the trails through the woods, enjoy a picnic in one of the high pastures overlooking the Catskills, cool off with a jump off the dock into the pond, cook dinner in the fully stocked kitchen, or read a book on the deck overlooking the pond. In the winter the pastures and barns are quiet as most of the animals have gone to market. Sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, skating on the pond, and winter walks make up the days, weather permitting of course. Chatham is a charming small town with an independent movie theatre, a bakery, coffee shop, cheese shop, local brewery, local food co-op, several restaurants, an independent bookstore, and a farmer’s market in season. Chatham and the surrounding towns have farms producing grass fed beef, prize winning cheeses, wineries, organic vegetables and fruits, locally made jams, chutneys, pastries and breads, beer and spirits. Hello welcomed guest. My name is Adam Jackson. The Cottage at Rock City was designed by me and built by my brother who owns and operates a local carpentry business in the area. He and I, and the rest of my family, grew up just a couple miles from where this house stands. I'm deeply rooted in what Old Chatham and the surrounding areas offer to you as our welcomed guest. I'm as excited as you are to think of the memories to be made. My wife and I are here to make your experience a memorable one. The Cottage and the foundation it sits on dates back circa mid 1700's. Since we took ownership the house has been completely renovated brand new and contains materials from the original home. The exposed beams are well over 250 years old, yet the spaces they fill allow for open and airy rooms where guests can relax and enjoy conversation in front of a gas lit fire. No expense was spared in the custom built kitchen which includes all high end appliances and cabinetry, and the bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable so that a good night's sleep is almost guaranteed. The Cottage sits on over 6 acres of open and wooded land which you're free to explore. In addition Sutherland Pond, or what locals refer to as Ooms', is less than a miles walk down Rock City. You'd be remiss to not take advantage of this open space. In my opinion it's one of the most beautiful places in Columbia County. You'll also have access to an outdoor fire pit and the opportunity to take in the quietness and sounds of the outdoors on a beautiful deck that overlooks the property. Feel free to use the gas grill while out on the deck as it will come in handy on those beautiful nights you decide to eat outdoors. Simone and I are near, but we will not hover. The property is yours to enjoy without interruption. If you should have any concerns we will be just a phone call or text away. As mentioned this house and the surrounding areas are very dear to us and my family. My only ask is that you respect and leave the house and property as you found it. Simone and I believe there is no other house in Colombia County more centrally located and more convenient than The Cottage at Rock City. Although located just off I-90 and the Taconic State Parkway, The Cottage is quiet and serene without any traffic noise. The house is set in a sunny meadow surrounded by woods with views of the Berkshire mountains. Walk down a grassy path and you’ll wind up at a pond complete with an ancient dock. We’re told it’s swimmable, though to be honest, none of us have ventured in yet. For hiking, there’s a spectacular Conservation area a mile down the road. The house has everything you need to live and work comfortably. The kitchen is designed for people who love to cook and is equipped with all new appliances including dishwasher, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The cottage has central AC and heating, a washer/dryer, WiFi and TV with an Amazon Firestick. We live in the Main House up the dirt road at Raccoon Forks. However, we’re only there on weekends, so you probably won’t see us. As your hosts, we believe it’s important to be readily available via phone, text or email should you have questions. This a very tranquil location if you like going fishing, about 1 1/2 miles from a State Park and Boat Docks in either directions. Other side of river accessible towns. You will be in a quiet part of Albany, which sits on the outskirts. I will pick you up if you need a cab and drop you off. Quiet, laid-back, to the point, honest, extremely friendly and respectful, very quiet peaceful area close to Albany, Rensselaer, Chatham, Troy, Ravena. Don't mind driving you to the Park N Ride to catch Bus 233 on Route 9, 10 minutes away from me takes 22 minutes to get to downtown Albany. I can drive you and pick you up or even take you where you need to go any time of day. I'd charge you to take you to the Park N Ride or downtown Albany, if you need a ride to a bus or don't have a car.
